August 2014 - Sophisticated Pallet

After such a hectic July, what with Safe House and various other projects reaching their climax, I have been taking August a bit easier. That's not to say there's nothing to report, however.

No, we've seen the release of the new Wrecked SUV terrain piece and the Bridges, Zeke, Eddie and Lars miniatures (I also had another special miniature cast but it was last minute and I haven't painted it yet but I will be covering it in another post soon).

I have also begun remastering the P-Sec Private Security Squad miniatues and have therefore reduced the price of old miniatures to clear. You can now buy pose A, B and C individually for only £1 each.

Enjoy your retirement, boys

As with last months post I will be making a habit of sharing my personal hobby doings and resources I find helpful with you fine people. This month I have been beavering away trying to make terrain for a very special mini-campaign following directly on from the events of Safe House 2014.

Now, I don't want to give anything away about the content of the campaign as I think you will really enjoy it when I post the AARs and I don't want to ruin the surprise. That said, I found a superb tutorial for making 28mm wooden pallets HERE and have been snipping coffee stirrers ever since. Here's a little look at the end result of about 15 minutes work...

Anyway, that's all for August. I hope it was a good month for you. Lots of good stuff to come in September including the Safe House Epilogue.

Finished Sculpts

Here are some pics of the finished sculpts for the next release. Apologies for the picture quality. The light and my haste to get these touched up and packed away made for some sketchy images.

Anyway, as ever Zeke's up first. I had to keep making adjustments to his jacket and face and it got to the point where I had to stop myself for fear of ruining the thing. It may not be immediately obvious but Zeke has some nifty details such as the protruding fibula from the broken leg and his dangling eyeball. I'm looking forward to painting him and showing these details off properly.

The merc remains nameless but is nonetheless finished. Prizes for anyone who comes up with a suitable name. The pics don't really do them justice but I'm particularly proud of his boots (always a mighty pain in my backside).

Lastly, we have the survivor, "Bud". I had originally planned on a younger face but as I sculpted the head, it virtually screamed for the moustache...and the hat. The rifle is a separate piece and is tacked on in the photos so there is a bit of awkwardness to his grip here. It'll be alright on the night though. Hopefully this gives you an idea of this miniatures versatility and you're already thinking of what other weapon(s) you'll give him.

That's all folks. More soon. These are off to the casters tomorrow.

New WIP...not long now.

After a bit of a lull in progress the new sculpts are back on track. Just heads, a few details and some sleeves left to do then it's off to the casters.

First up is Zeke, the smart zombie, again. Sleeves, face and gun details to go...and his fly. Do not let me forget to sculpt his fly.

Next is a thus far unamed merc with AA-12 shotgun. Miscellaneous details, a head and belt is all that's left.

Last but not least, we have another faceless/nameless survivor. This guy is special as his gun (you can see it in the background there...kind of) will be cast separately. So all you enterprising modellers out there can easily drop a different weapon in there. No extra work and I'm being as thorough as I can, trying different weapons from my own collection, to make it as universal as possible.

All told, it shouldn't take more than a week to get these finished so they should be released before Summer.
As always, any feedback welcome.

Coming Soon - Zeke WIP

Just a quickie for you to have a look at what's coming to PZM very soon...

The sculpt is ticking along nicely and should be even closer to completion by the end of the week as my calender has a welcome, albeit brief, block of free time. More to come soon.
