Safe House 2014 Update 06

On time with the updates again and just in time for me finishing painting another of Project Zeke Miniatures' latest masters.

This will be another of my personal band of intrepid survivors for Safe House 2014. I recommend you play the following video while you read on:

This chap may be familiar to some of you already. He is an update on our limited edition Young Eddie miniature (my first ever sculpt as it happens), a little older, a little wiser and a lot better equipped to face the horde. He is Eddie - Unfortunate Son; A grizzled 'Nam veteran who still favours the brutal force multiplication of his faithful M60 over a more precise firearm. And everything looks better through aviators.

More very soon as we enter the final week before the big day.

Catch up on all of the Safe House action below:

  1. That's a huge improvement over the original, Simon. I love the M60. We don't see enough of them!

    1. Agreed. Thanks, mate. It was a last minute flash of inspiration before I got my new stuff cast.

  2. I do like the way you're painting denim; it looks very effective. Do you simply use a lot of highlighting or is there some other trick to it?

    1. I layer up from GW "The Fang" to Vallejo "Wolf Grey", mixing gradually and painting in horizontal lines. I also used a custom blue wash to add some depth. Would a tutorial interest you as I've been thinking of posting one?

  3. I don't know if it's the music, but this is the most fantastic miniature you made so far. Totally hippie, but he's charming, great job!
Given the guns are all I see lately, I got to say this one looks fantastic - your work?

    1. Thanks, bud. Yeah, it's my own sculpt. I did it over the original gun on the sculpt.

  4. That was a great touch! The music actually makes it all make great sense. The fig and back story is well done, hopefully he has plenty of supporters carrying ammo for the pig!

    1. Thanks, mate. It felt right. Yeah, he'll be stockpiling 7.62 for sure.

  5. I hear the song "Sweet home Albama" being played while I look at this veteran...

    Looking pretty good!

    1. Mate, I think I've had the entire soundtrack to Vietnam stuck in my head for about three weeks now. :S

  6. Thanks, bud. It's one of my favourites (although the Vietnam expansion for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 did its best to ruin it).

  7. It you can't kill a zed with an M60 then you are in serious trouble. AS others have said I think your best so far. Packing serious fire power.

    1. Too right. Thank you, Clint. He is my favourite posed mini, I must admit.
