Here are some pics of the finished sculpts for the next release. Apologies for the picture quality. The light and my haste to get these touched up and packed away made for some sketchy images.
Anyway, as ever Zeke's up first. I had to keep making adjustments to his jacket and face and it got to the point where I had to stop myself for fear of ruining the thing. It may not be immediately obvious but Zeke has some nifty details such as the protruding fibula from the broken leg and his dangling eyeball. I'm looking forward to painting him and showing these details off properly.
The merc remains nameless but is nonetheless finished. Prizes for anyone who comes up with a suitable name. The pics don't really do them justice but I'm particularly proud of his boots (always a mighty pain in my backside).
Lastly, we have the survivor, "Bud". I had originally planned on a younger face but as I sculpted the head, it virtually screamed for the moustache...and the hat. The rifle is a separate piece and is tacked on in the photos so there is a bit of awkwardness to his grip here. It'll be alright on the night though. Hopefully this gives you an idea of this miniatures versatility and you're already thinking of what other weapon(s) you'll give him.
That's all folks. More soon. These are off to the casters tomorrow.
Nice ones! Looking forward to these.
ReplyDeleteAs for a name.... Diamond Darrel-Gustav the swede-Mark Danger
How did you know, to me at least, he was a Swede???!!!
DeleteGet out of my brain, Johnny! Lol.
Awesome work buddy! With a gun like that I'd have to call him Royce!
ReplyDeleteThanks, dude. Yeah, another shamelessly transparent parody of mine.
DeleteGreat job, judging by the photos! I especially like the pose of the zombie.
ReplyDeleteI love the face on shotgun guy - he looks like Buzz to me...must be the hair. And that thing he's carrying is surely not just a door knocker :D
Buzz. I like it. Could be a front runner.
DeleteIt's funny you should mention door knockers. The AA12 barrel has a serrated end for aiding in the knocking of doors. I wanted to sculpt that feature but it was far too delicate.
Hmm, you need to work on your commenting settings, so you can "reply" right below the comment you're replying to :P.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean! I tried same with my rifles but I couldn't get it done. I think what's needed is a harder putty (like "brownstuff"), but buying a pack of that for something as large as the dirt under the nails...I can pass for now :P
Funnily enough, mathyoo, replies work fine on the mobile site just not on the webs. It's the theme. I'll get it fixed this week now that the sculpts are done.
DeleteBrown stuff would be great but I hear they've stopped making it. Sad face.
Hmm - it works now, though.
DeleteNext best Idea I have is blue-heavy greenstuff. I suppose it could be done with procreate as well, but I've only tried a sample and didn't want to waste it experimenting - its a great putty as it is.
And if blue heavy greenstuff doesnt work - mix some gs with some milliput (mix each first and both together then) - it is hard as a milliput but doesn't dissolve when wet, so it's less messy. Plus it keeps the "elasticity" (apparently this is an actual word) of the green stuff.
Nice one Simon, I think Zeke is my favourite so far!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Adam. I'm sure you'll get a closer look soon.
DeleteI think the merc should have a first name that makes you question his manliness...but you wouldn't dare because he looks like he'll rip you in half. How about Captain Eustis Justice?
ReplyDeleteEustis. Amazing! Probably became a soldier to compensate for all the kickings he inevitably received as a lad.
